Schedule Pre-Chemo Haircut

Before starting chemo, most Oncologists will advise you to cut your hair gradually over time until it’s really short. This is so you can get used to having short or no hair at all without being shocked when it does happen.

However, before losing your hair to chemo, we can make a custom halo from your own hair. Schedule a hair cut with us before you lose your hair, usually between 2 weeks prior to 10 days after your first chemo treatment. We advise you to grow your hair as long as possible before your appointment. Free pre-chemo hair cut included with purchase.

The closer to the scalp we cut, the more length your halo will have. We can supplement hair if there’s not enough. We then create wefts with strands of your hair and sew it onto a knitted cap that surrounds your head in a “U-shape”, sort of like a hat.

Creating a halo wig is labor intensive and takes about 1-2 weeks to create. They are available in 19”, 21” and 23” cap sizes, and can be straight, wavy or curly. The cost of a halo is $1,000 plus the cost of additional hair as needed.

When your halo is ready, we will call you to pick it up at our salon. We will make any adjustments to your halo as needed, and show you how to wear it, style it and maintain it. Worn under a hat or head covering, halo wigs are lightweight, easy to wear and comfortable- just put it on and go.

If you are also purchasing a wig, you can use a halo wig to extend the lifespan of your premium wig by alternating wears. For example, you can wear your wig when you go out in public; and use your halo when just hanging out around the house, working out at the gym or running errands.
