These Store Policies describe the shopping, returns, exchanges and other store policies for both our hair salon and wig-related services.

This Store Policy applies to hair salon– and wig-related products and services provided both online and in-salon by the following companies (collectively, the “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). All businesses operate in the State of New York.

Consultation Policy

We offer one-hour complimentary consultations by appointment. Additional consultations are $75 per hour (or any portion thereof). If a wig or hair topper is purchased at the second consultation, the $75 consultation fee will be credited toward the purchase.

If you miss a scheduled consultation without providing at least 24 hours’ notice, a $75 rebooking fee will apply.

Service Policy

Each wig is custom made, delicate, and requires daily care and proper maintenance. To support you, we provide:

  • Detailed Wig Care Instructions
  • One complimentary wig styling and washing lesson
  • A complimentary Wig Care Kit, including:
    • Wig stand
    • Wide-tooth comb and brush
    • Shampoo and conditioner
    • Wig net
    • Wig grip

Wig Care and Longevity: Wigs are delicate and require regular care and maintenance. With proper care and moderate wear, the expected lifespan of a wig is approximately 6–12 months.

Wig Condition: The Company is not responsible for damage, hair loss, tearing, color changes, or loss of manageability resulting from improper care, including but not limited to forgoing the complimentary wig care lesson, using unauthorized products, or having the wig serviced by a third-party salon or stylist.

Services Disclaimer: If a wig is cut, styled, colored, or otherwise serviced by any salon or stylist outside of the Company, we are not responsible for the condition, appearance, or performance of the wig thereafter. If a client elects to have their wig cut or styled by a HairPlaceNYC or Andrew DiSimone Wigs stylist, the Company is not responsible for dissatisfaction with the final result.

Wash and Style Services

  • Short wigs (3”–8”): $75 ($150 for 3rd-party wig)
  • Medium wigs (9”–14”): $100 ($200 for 3rd-party wig)
  • Long wigs (16”–24”): $150 ($300 for 3rd-party wig)

Third-Party Wig Services: A $500 service fee applies to cutting or styling wigs not purchased from the Company. A signed waiver is required prior to performing any services on third-party wigs.

Payment Policy

Down Payment: A 50% deposit is required to place a wig order. The remaining balance will be automatically processed 30 days from the date of purchase.

Payment Methods: We accept credit and debit cards, PayPal, checks, and money orders.

Credit Cards: All credit card charges will appear as HairPlaceNYC. All transactions are processed through a secure, industry-standard payment system.

Checks: All checks must clear before any products are released or services are performed. Please make checks payable to and mail to:

Order Changes and Cancellations

Changes or cancellations must be requested within 24 hours of placing an order (including weekends). Requests made after this period are considered final and subject to the Restocking Fees outlined below.

Returns and Exchanges

All wig and topper sales are final. We do not accept returns, exchanges, or refunds on wigs or toppers, whether used or unused.

Clients must try on and inspect their wig in-salon at the time of pickup. Any defects must be identified before leaving the salon and may be exchanged or corrected at our discretion. Once the client leaves with the wig, the transaction is final and we are not responsible for any subsequent issues.

For Shipped Orders: Once an order has shipped, the purchase is final. Refused packages are not eligible for refunds, and orders returned due to incorrect shipping information provided by the customer are not eligible for return or exchange.

This policy applies to, but is not limited to, the following items:

  • All wigs and hair toppers
  • Clearance or discounted items
  • Costume wigs
  • Custom, special, or wholesale orders
  • Hair and wig care products, accessories, and liquids

We encourage donating gently used wigs to our trusted partner organizations listed below (see Donations).

FOLLEA Wigs by Daniel Alain

FOLLEA Wigs are subject exclusively to FOLLEA’s own return and exchange policy. Andrew DiSimone Wigs and HairPlaceNYC do not process returns or exchanges for FOLLEA products.

As a courtesy, we may assist with manufacturer-related defect issues, including coordinating shipping and communication on the client’s behalf, at our discretion. In some cases, clients may be required to work directly with the manufacturer.

Restocking Fees

A restocking fee applies to deposits taken on wig and topper orders that are not completed or purchased. In such cases, a restocking fee equal to 25% of the wig price, excluding tax and shipping, will be applied.

Restocking fees do not apply to completed wig purchases, as all wig and topper sales are final.

Backorders

Occasionally, items may be placed on backorder due to high demand. If this occurs, you will be notified by email when the item becomes available. You may choose to wait, select an alternative item, or cancel your order.

Shipping

Orders typically ship within 1–2 business days after processing. Delays may occur due to incorrect billing or shipping information, holidays, carrier issues, or unforeseen events. Holidays are not considered business days. Shipping to PO Boxes cannot be tracked. International and Canadian shipping are not available at this time. Shipping and handling fees are non-refundable.

Shipping rates:

  • UPS Ground (7–9 business days): $35
  • UPS 2nd Day Air (2 business days): $75
  • UPS Next Day Air (1 business day): $125
  • International DHL or Fed Ex (varies): $300

Sales Tax

Sales tax is required on orders shipped within New York State and is non-refundable.

NYS Sales Tax:

  • Products: 8.875%
  • Services: 4.5%

Tax Reimbursement: Hair prostheses worn for medical (non-cosmetic) purposes may be eligible for tax reimbursement in New York State. Please download the appropriate documentation at www.tax.ny.gov.

Discounts and Promotions

We periodically offer seasonal and promotional discounts through our website, social media, and third-party platforms such as Google Ads and Groupon. Promotions may not be combined and are limited to one per person, per order.

Gift Cards

Gift Cards are available for use both online and in-salon and do not expire. Gift Cards cannot be purchased using coupons, redeemed for cash, or applied to previous balances. If your purchase exceeds the Gift Card value, an additional payment method may be used. Gift Cards may be emailed or mailed, and applicable shipping fees and sales tax may apply. Lost or stolen Gift Cards may be replaced for the remaining balance reflected in our records.

Credit Card Fraud

Credit card fraud and theft of merchandise will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law in the State of New York.

Donations

We encourage clients to donate gently used wigs to one of our trusted partner organizations that support individuals undergoing medical hair loss. These organizations provide wigs and resources to adults and children in need, and we are proud to support their missions.
