Step 1: Wash your Wig

Step 1: Wash your Wig

We recommend washing your wig approximately every 15 wears — more often if you’re in NYC humidity, near construction dust, or exposed to subway air.

  • Detangle – Gently brush with a wide-tooth comb or wig brush, starting at the ends and working up.
  • Rinse – Hold from the top and rinse under water; repeat until completely rinsed.
  • Blot – Use a towel to blot dry; DO NOT rub, brush, or comb when wet to avoid knotting.

Human Hair: Mix 2 capfuls of argan oil shampoo in warm water until sudsy.
Synthetic: Mix 2 capfuls of Kera Smooth shampoo in cool water until sudsy.

💡 Pro Tip: If you ride your bike across the Brooklyn Bridge or walk long NYC streets, wash your wig sooner to remove pollutants.

Step 2: Condition your Wig

Step 2: Condition your Wig

Human Hair:

  • Place wig on a towel.
  • Apply argan oil conditioner to ends using a wide-tooth comb, moving up to within 2″ of the scalp.
  • Rinse repeatedly until all conditioner is removed.
  • CAUTION: Too much conditioner near the root area can make knots slip.

Synthetic Hair:

  • Hold wig and spray with leave-in conditioner (2–4 pumps).
  • Place on a wig stand and let dry overnight. DO NOT rinse out.

💡 Pro Tip: In dry NYC winters, conditioning helps reduce static.

Step 3: Dry your Wig

Step 3: Dry your Wig

  • Blot dry with a towel — never wring or twist to avoid matting.
  • Place on a wig stand, ensuring it’s level left to right.
  • Part hair as desired before drying.
  • Air dry overnight for best results.

💡 Pro Tip: Keep your wig stand in a well-ventilated spot, away from direct NYC radiator heat.

Step 4: Style your Wig

Step 4: Style your Wig

Human Hair: Style as you would your own hair, then apply products like wig shines, hair sprays, and gels — but less is more.

Synthetic Hair: DO NOT USE HEATED STYLING TOOLS! The hair will return to its original shape after drying.

Heat-Resistant Synthetic: Apply leave-in spray conditioner daily with a wide-tooth comb from the bottom up. DO NOT pull hard on knotted hair. Styling tools must NOT BE HOTTER than 250°.

💡 Pro Tip: NYC weather changes fast — carry a small comb and travel-size wig spray for touch-ups on the go.

Step 5: Put on your Wig

Step 5: Put on your Wig

Follow these steps to attach your wig to your head:

  1. Hold wig upside down from the nape area with two thumbs on each side of the label.
  2. Raise wig to your head as if hooking the front onto your eyebrows.
  3. Gently pull over the top of your head and release.
  4. Adjust hairline height by placing 4 fingers above your brow bone.
  5. Adjust left/right sides until level, then style.

💡 Pro Tip: For a more secure application, use a wig cap, wig grip, and/or wig tape tabs — especially useful for windy NYC streets or during active movement.
