Sydney’s Story

Free Wigs for Kids - HairPlace Donates Wig to Student Before Her Prom (Blog)Sydney was 15 a junior in high school when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on May 7, 2013. She did loose her hair after a few weeks of having chemotherapy which was so devastating to watch her go through. Sydney’s aunt Erin started researching the Internet and found Andrew DiSimone. She contacted him and heard a response immediately. We had sent pictures of Sydney before she lost her hair and he knew he could make her smile with a wig made of real hair.

We arrived in NY City on July 10th and that is exactly what Andrew did. That smile on her face I can still see that smile on her face! Sydney finished up chemotherapy and radiation December 2013. Her hair started growing back and Sydney had almost 4″ of hair the beginning of May 2014 and her junior prom was May 17th and we had contacted Andrew again because we knew that his salon was also known for hair extensions. We wanted to come up with some hair style for her special day. Andrew had suggested Saskia since she does a great job with extensions. After conversations with Saskia we planned another trip to NY City and Saskia did just that!

Thank you Andrew & Saskia and everyone at HairPlaceNYC for everything they have done for my daughter Sydney McEvoy. We will be forever grateful!
